How to Open Maytag Bravos XL Control Board

Need to get to the control board on a Maytag Bravos XL washer? Here’s what I did.

1. Unplug the washer and turn off the water supply.
2. Remove the water hoses.
3. Remove all the screws behind the panels.
4. Slide the whole top panel, including the door, toward the front, then carefully lift it up.
5. There are four latches holding it in place. Remove the two metal latches first, then the other two.
6. Once the latches are removed, you should have access to the control panel and board.

In my case, the control board seemed to be working fine. I just cleaned a small section of the panel board where it connects to the control board, and that was enough for me to continue troubleshooting.

Make sure the washer is completely unplugged before doing any work on it.
